The Speed-to-Lead Playbook for Home Services
The operator who answers first books the job. Usually it isn't even close.
By Phil Smith · RekindleLeads · rekindleleads.com
Most home-services operators think they lose jobs on price. They don't - they lose them on response time. The customer who fills out a form or leaves a voicemail is calling three of your competitors at the same time, and the one who responds first, while the others are still on a roof, books the work. This is how to make sure that's always you.
Where AI earns its keep
Answer every channel in under 60 seconds
Calls, texts, web forms, and Facebook messages caught and responded to instantly, 24/7 - before a competitor can pick up the phone.
Why it works: Lead value decays fast. A response in seconds while interest is hot converts far better than a callback hours later, when they've already booked someone else.
Watch out: Speed only helps if the response is good. The agent has to sound like your shop and ask the right questions.
Qualify before you spend time
The agent sorts real jobs from tire-kickers using the questions you'd ask yourself, so your time goes to work worth quoting.
Why it works: You stop driving across town for jobs that were never going to close.
Watch out: Tune the qualifying questions to your actual service area, job types, and minimums.
Book it straight to the calendar
A qualified lead moves directly to a scheduled job or estimate - no phone tag, no back-and-forth.
Why it works: Every handoff is a chance for the lead to cool off or wander to a competitor. Removing them protects the booking.
Watch out: Keep a human in the loop for complex or high-dollar jobs the bot shouldn't price on its own.
Reactivation and reviews
Automated follow-up that turns finished jobs into reviews and past customers into repeat work.
Why it works: Your customer list is the cheapest pipeline you own, and almost nobody works it.
Watch out: Honor opt-outs. Volume makes careless outreach loud.
Where it doesn't (the traps)
- Letting the bot quote prices it can't stand behind on complex jobs.
- Removing the human entirely - keep a handoff for the jobs that need judgment.
- Bolting on a generic chatbot instead of building around how your crew actually runs.
- Ignoring opt-outs once outreach is automated.
The offer
I'll build and deploy this for you, integrated around how you already run your crew. Live in 30 days. About two hours of your time, total - I handle the build, the integrations, and the setup. And you don't pay a dime until it's live and answering your leads. If it's not responding to every lead inside 60 seconds, I keep working free until it is.
A 4-question gut check
- How fast does a new lead actually get a response right now - seconds, or hours?
- What happens to inquiries that come in after hours or on weekends?
- Are web-form and Facebook leads handled as fast as phone calls?
- Are you working your past-customer list for repeat jobs at all?
Every missed call this week is a job a competitor books.
I take a limited number of builds at a time because I do the work myself. If you want the system that answers first, grab a slot.
